Is this a journaling app?
Not in the homework sense. There are no prompts, streaks or forms. You open it when you need to say something, talk, and leave. The history builds up on its own.
Does the AI reply after I talk?
No. After you finish, Smart Rant just saves the moment. Intelligence only shows up when you open You or Ask a question.
What's the difference between Normal, Private and Burn?
Normal moments become part of your longer history. Private moments are saved and stay playable, but they're kept out of patterns, insights, Ask and resurfacing; they're transcribed, and so searchable by their words, only if you allow Private transcription separately in Account. Burn recordings are never uploaded and are never kept.
Who can hear or read my recordings?
You. No other account can open your archive, and nothing is social or public. To transcribe and analyze what you said, the relevant audio or text is sent to the OpenAI API, which does not train on API data by default — and only once you turn cloud processing on. The privacy page names every processor.
Can I use Smart Rant on the web?
Yes. Sign in on the web to record or upload a moment, browse Past, open You, Ask questions, relive moments and manage your account. Use the same sign-in as the iPhone app and your history is the same in both.
Why does You say there isn't enough evidence yet?
Because that's true. Smart Rant only makes claims your recordings can support, and shows the moments behind them. With more moments across separate days, it can say more.
Where do Ask answers come from?
Only from your own moments. Each answer lists receipts: the date of each source moment and your exact words, which you can open or play.
How much does it cost?
Smart Rant is free to start. Pro is $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year, purchased in the iPhone app, and eligible new subscribers can start with a 7-day free trial. Apple bills it and you cancel it on your iPhone in Settings › your name › Subscriptions. If you stop paying, your history stays.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes. From Account you can request a full JSON export, remove cloud audio, or delete your account, which removes your recordings, transcripts and derived data.
Is Smart Rant therapy?
No. It doesn't diagnose or treat anything. It helps you remember and notice what you've said, with the source moments to check.
